| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| join the citizens of Fort Bend County and Texans across the state | ||
| in celebrating April 16, 2011, as Fort Bend County Black Nurses | ||
| Association Day; and | ||
| WHEREAS, An affiliate of the National Black Nurses | ||
| Association, the Fort Bend County Black Nurses Association was | ||
| founded in 2001 to provide a forum for collective action by | ||
| African American nurses; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This respected organization has diligently worked | ||
| to investigate and determine the health care needs of African | ||
| Americans and other minorities and to implement the changes | ||
| needed to make the level of care they receive equal to that | ||
| enjoyed by society at large; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The association has received numerous awards from | ||
| such organizations as the American Heart Association and the | ||
| March of Dimes, and it has been recognized by the national | ||
| headquarters for its excellence in community service; 17 of its | ||
| nurses have received national Nurse of the Year awards for their | ||
| superior service; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This impressive organization is truly deserving | ||
| of recognition for its legacy of outstanding care; now, therefore, | ||
| be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend the Fort Bend County Black Nurses | ||
| Association on 10 years of outstanding service to the community | ||
| and extend to its members best wishes for a successful Fort Bend | ||
| County Black Nurses Association Day; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| this exemplary organization as an expression of esteem from the | ||
| Texas Senate. | ||
