| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| join Texans across the state in celebrating January 30 through | ||
| February 5, 2011, as Catholic Schools Week; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Sponsored by the National Catholic Educational | ||
| Association and the United States Conference of Catholic | ||
| Bishops, Catholic Schools Week serves to highlight the vital | ||
| contributions made by the thousands of Catholic schools across | ||
| the nation; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Catholic schools in the United States have earned | ||
| international acclaim for achieving academic excellence while | ||
| promoting strong values; they offer a rigorous curriculum that | ||
| emphasizes the lifelong development of moral, intellectual, | ||
| physical, and social values; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Catholic schools foster an intellectually | ||
| stimulating environment in which 95 percent of students | ||
| graduate, and 83 percent of Catholic high school graduates go on | ||
| to attend college; and | ||
| WHEREAS, America's Catholic schools are truly deserving of | ||
| recognition for the significant role they play in promoting and | ||
| ensuring a brighter, stronger future for our state and nation; | ||
| now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend the students, teachers, and | ||
| administrators of Catholic schools for their many contributions | ||
| to our nation's educational system and extend to them best wishes | ||
| for a memorable Catholic Schools Week; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in | ||
| honor of this special event. | ||
