	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 709
	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
	recognize Rhonda Farney, who has been honored with the Pat
	Summitt Trophy and has been named the 2017 National Coach of the
	Year by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association; and

	WHEREAS, Rhonda Farney is the head coach of the Georgetown
	High School girls' basketball team; during her 29 years of
	coaching, she has led the Lady Eagles to more than 1,000
	victories; and

	WHEREAS, Under Coach Farney's superior leadership and
	expertise, the Lady Eagles have earned a place in 26 state playoffs
	and in back-to-back University Interscholastic League 4A Division
	state tournaments; her team won the state championship title in
	2013, and players closed out an impressive 2017 season having made
	it to the regional finals; and

	WHEREAS, Coach Farney inspires confidence in her players,
	and she instills in them an uncompromising work ethic that is
	reflected both on and off the court; she has helped 66 Georgetown
	High School athletes move on to play collegiate basketball; and

	WHEREAS, Rhonda Farney is respected and admired by her
	students, her colleagues, and the members of the Georgetown
	community, and she is indeed deserving of recognition for her
	outstanding accomplishments; now, therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
	Legislature, hereby commend Rhonda Farney on her exemplary
	coaching career and congratulate her on receiving the Pat Summitt
	Trophy and being named the Women's Basketball Coaches Association
	2017 National Coach of the Year; and, be it further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
	her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
