| Benjamin Sontoya Aleman | ||
| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas pays tribute to | ||
| the life of Benjamin Sontoya Aleman, who died March 27, 2013, at | ||
| the age of 73; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Ben Aleman was born on March 18, 1940, in | ||
| Creedmoor, Texas; early on, he displayed an agreeable nature, and | ||
| throughout his life, his wit and easy disposition made him a | ||
| favorite among friends and family; and | ||
| WHEREAS, From 1960 to 1966, Ben served in the Texas | ||
| National Guard and spent a portion of that time in Fort Polk, | ||
| Louisiana; he later moved to Houston, where he dedicated much of | ||
| his spare time to coaching the Dixie Little League; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Baseball was a lifelong passion for Ben, and he | ||
| was deeply respected as a baseball coach; he offered steadfast | ||
| support and guidance to his players, and his teams frequently | ||
| finished with winning seasons; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Eventually, the Aleman family moved to Austin, | ||
| where Ben served as an employee of Capital Metro for 21 years; it | ||
| was a job he loved, and he also relished competing in the employee | ||
| rodeos, often claiming national and local awards in the events; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, | ||
| this loving father and devoted husband gave unselfishly of his | ||
| time to others, and the memory of his warmth and wisdom will long | ||
| be cherished by his wife of 51 years, Nancy Aleman, by his | ||
| children, and by his extended family; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd | ||
| Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
| family of Benjamin Sontoya Aleman; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
| Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
| memory of Ben Aleman. | ||
