| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| join the Community Action Advisory Board in San Antonio and | ||
| community action agencies across America in celebrating the | ||
| month of May 2011 as Community Action Month; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Community action agencies and organizations | ||
| across the nation are united in their efforts to address the | ||
| issue of poverty and to ensure that people who are poor get the | ||
| help they need to improve their lives; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Community Action Advisory Board in San | ||
| Antonio provides a forum for reviewing and creating policy on | ||
| poverty and on the most effective means to help low-income | ||
| families achieve economic stability; it acts in an advisory | ||
| capacity for the San Antonio City Council; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Poverty is a concern for Texans and for all | ||
| Americans; communities across the nation form organizations to | ||
| plan the most efficient means to help persons with low incomes | ||
| become more self-sufficient; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Community action changes people's lives, improves | ||
| communities, and makes America a better place to live; it is | ||
| indeed appropriate that community action agencies and those who | ||
| serve receive the recognition they deserve; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Community Action | ||
| Board in San Antonio and members of like agencies around this | ||
| state and our nation for their service and their commitment to | ||
| helping others and proclaim the month of May 2011 as Community | ||
| Action Month in the State of Texas; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in | ||
| honor of Community Action Month. | ||
