| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Patrick Swint for his many years of outstanding service | ||
| as a member of the United States armed forces; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Patrick Swint began his military career in 1987 | ||
| when he enlisted in the Alabama Army National Guard; he converted | ||
| to the Texas Air National Guard in 1989 and rose through the | ||
| ranks, attaining the rank of staff sergeant in 1994; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He entered Officer Candidate School that same | ||
| year as a participant in the United States Army Physician | ||
| Assistant School; he graduated in 1996 and was commissioned as a | ||
| second lieutenant; he earned a bachelor's degree with honors in | ||
| physician assistant studies from The University of Texas Health | ||
| Science Center at San Antonio and a master's degree from the | ||
| University of Nebraska; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He was called to active duty several times, | ||
| serving in Operation Desert Storm and as a deputy air surgeon | ||
| during the joint task force Operation Jump Start Texas; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Patrick Swint retired from the United States Air | ||
| Force in 2008, having achieved the rank of major; over the course | ||
| of his military career, he received numerous medals and | ||
| commendations, including the Texas Desert Storm Medal, the | ||
| National Defense Service Medal with one Service Star, and the Army | ||
| Reserve Component Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Swint served the nation with honor and | ||
| distinction, and it is truly fitting that he be recognized for | ||
| his outstanding service; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Patrick Swint on his exceptional | ||
| service to the nation in the United States armed forces and | ||
| extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his future | ||
| endeavors; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
