SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 697
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Brenda S. Kalapach, who is retiring from the Texas
  Department of Transportation on March 31, 2011, after 35 years of
  outstanding service to the state; and
         WHEREAS, An honors graduate of The University of Texas at
  Austin, Brenda Kalapach began her career in state service with
  the Texas Department of Agriculture; she served with the Texas
  Energy Advisory Council and the Texas Transportation Institute
  before joining the Texas Department of Transportation in 1981;
  and
         WHEREAS, Throughout her career, she has been noted for her
  superior skills and expertise; she provided direction and
  leadership for the development of numerous traffic analysis
  software programs that helped the department ensure a safer
  environment for the traveling public; and
         WHEREAS, Talented and resourceful, she has handled her
  many responsibilities with exceptional efficiency and
  dedication; she has played a vital role in the department's
  Technology Services Division, where she oversaw the development
  and implementation of the department's data architecture and
  configuration management tools; and
         WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, she is respected and
  admired by her colleagues, and her presence at the Texas
  Department of Transportation will be greatly missed; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend Brenda S. Kalapach on her
  exceptional service to the people of Texas as an employee of the
  Texas Department of Transportation and extend to her best wishes
  for the retirement years ahead; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
