| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Brenda S. Kalapach, who is retiring from the Texas | ||
| Department of Transportation on March 31, 2011, after 35 years of | ||
| outstanding service to the state; and | ||
| WHEREAS, An honors graduate of The University of Texas at | ||
| Austin, Brenda Kalapach began her career in state service with | ||
| the Texas Department of Agriculture; she served with the Texas | ||
| Energy Advisory Council and the Texas Transportation Institute | ||
| before joining the Texas Department of Transportation in 1981; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, Throughout her career, she has been noted for her | ||
| superior skills and expertise; she provided direction and | ||
| leadership for the development of numerous traffic analysis | ||
| software programs that helped the department ensure a safer | ||
| environment for the traveling public; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Talented and resourceful, she has handled her | ||
| many responsibilities with exceptional efficiency and | ||
| dedication; she has played a vital role in the department's | ||
| Technology Services Division, where she oversaw the development | ||
| and implementation of the department's data architecture and | ||
| configuration management tools; and | ||
| WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, she is respected and | ||
| admired by her colleagues, and her presence at the Texas | ||
| Department of Transportation will be greatly missed; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Brenda S. Kalapach on her | ||
| exceptional service to the people of Texas as an employee of the | ||
| Texas Department of Transportation and extend to her best wishes | ||
| for the retirement years ahead; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
