| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Norm Archibald, who is retiring after 13 years of | ||
| exceptional public service as mayor of Abilene; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Norm Archibald was first elected mayor in 2004, | ||
| after having served four years as a city councilman; under his | ||
| outstanding leadership, Abilene has continued to grow and to | ||
| serve as a major center of commerce in West Texas; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He is the longest-serving mayor in Abilene's | ||
| history, and he is vice president of Abilene's Hendrick Health | ||
| System, where he is responsible for the development of the system | ||
| through the Hendrick Medical Center Foundation; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mayor Archibald is also the chair of the Abilene | ||
| Metropolitan Planning Organization and the Abilene-Taylor County | ||
| Venue District; he is active in a wide range of community and | ||
| professional organizations, including the Texas Trails Council | ||
| of the Boy Scouts of America, the Abilene Industrial Foundation, | ||
| the Texas Hospital Association, the Abilene Chamber of Commerce, | ||
| and the United Way of Abilene; and | ||
| WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, he is respected and | ||
| admired by his colleagues and area citizens, and his presence as | ||
| mayor of Abilene will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Mayor Norm Archibald on his | ||
| exceptional service to the people of Abilene and extend to him | ||
| best wishes for continued success in all his future endeavors; | ||
| and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
