Wesley Taylor, Sr. | ||
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and | ||
commemorates the life of Wesley Taylor, Sr., who died June 21, | ||
2013, at the age of 90; and | ||
WHEREAS, Wesley Taylor was an exemplary citizen who was | ||
widely admired in his community for his many achievements; and | ||
WHEREAS, He was born June 10, 1923, in Grapeland, to Frank | ||
and Lauretta Taylor; a 1942 graduate of Crockett High School, he | ||
attended Texas Southern University, where he studied auto | ||
mechanics; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor served the nation with distinction | ||
during World War II in the United States Army and rose to the rank | ||
of sergeant; he went on to enjoy a long and productive career as a | ||
self-employed construction worker; and | ||
WHEREAS, He married Jessie Mae West on June 28, 1947, and | ||
the couple enjoyed 66 years of marriage together; they raised | ||
four sons, Wesley, Jerry, Timothy, and Everett, and they were | ||
blessed with nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he | ||
gave generously to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued | ||
counsel will not be forgotten by those who were privileged to | ||
share in his life; and | ||
WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and | ||
grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured | ||
forever by his family and countless friends; now, therefore, be | ||
it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd | ||
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend sincere | ||
condolences to the bereaved family of Wesley Taylor, Sr.; and, be | ||
it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
memory of Wesley Taylor, Sr. | ||
