| Juan Gonzales Sr. | ||
| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and | ||
| commemorates the life of Juan Gonzales Sr., who died on | ||
| January 29, 2017, at the age of 87; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Juan Gonzales was born on June 25, 1929, in Punta | ||
| del Monte, Texas, to Guadalupe and Sofia Gonzales; he and his | ||
| beloved wife, Maria Guadalupe Gonzales, raised three daughters and | ||
| four sons together, and they were blessed with 15 grandchildren, | ||
| seven great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a | ||
| cowboy, and he worked on ranches across South Texas, including | ||
| the Punta del Monte Ranch, the El Sauz Ranch, and the Kenedy | ||
| Ranch; he was known as a fearless bronc rider who was rarely | ||
| thrown from a horse; he retired in 1990 as a Kineño from the | ||
| Norias Division of the King Ranch; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he | ||
| gave generously to others, and his wisdom, his talent and work | ||
| ethic, and his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will | ||
| not be forgotten; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and | ||
| grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured | ||
| forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
| family of Juan Gonzales Sr.; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
| Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
| memory of Juan Gonzales Sr. | ||
