| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize the National Council of Negro Women, Incorporated, | ||
| Minnie H. Goodlow Page Section, on the occasion of its Ninth | ||
| Annual Spring Hat Extravaganza and Tea; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The National Council of Negro Women, Incorporated, | ||
| is a voluntary, nonprofit organization dedicated to helping | ||
| women improve the quality of life for themselves, their families, | ||
| and their communities; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This outstanding association of women sponsors | ||
| educational, economic, social, cultural, and scientific self-help | ||
| projects in order to achieve equality of opportunity and to | ||
| eliminate prejudice and discrimination; it is supported by 38 | ||
| affiliated national organizations, including the National | ||
| Women's Business Council and the Black Leadership Forum, and 250 | ||
| community-based sections; and | ||
| WHEREAS, "A Salute to Women of Distinction" is the theme of | ||
| this year's event, which will honor six women for their | ||
| commitment to family, community, church, education, business, | ||
| and government; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This exceptional organization is truly deserving | ||
| of recognition for its valuable work in supporting women and | ||
| improving our society; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend the National Council of Negro Women, | ||
| Incorporated, Minnie H. Goodlow Page Section, on its many | ||
| contributions to the community and extend to its members best | ||
| wishes for a memorable Ninth Annual Spring Hat Extravaganza and | ||
| Tea; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| this outstanding organization as an expression of esteem from the | ||
| Texas Senate. | ||
