| WHEREAS, Joseph Stephen Rosenberger of Huntsville has | ||
| earned a Congressional Award Gold Medal, and his outstanding | ||
| achievement is being recognized on June 19, 2013, at a ceremony | ||
| in Washington, D.C.; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Bestowed by the United States Congress, this | ||
| prestigious accolade honors young Americans who have completed | ||
| 400 hours of voluntary public service, 200 hours of personal | ||
| development, 200 hours of physical fitness, and a four-night, | ||
| five-day expedition/exploration; and | ||
| WHEREAS, An Eagle Scout, Mr. Rosenberger completed the | ||
| rigorous requirements for the Congressional Award in the summer | ||
| of 2011 while riding his bicycle across the United States from | ||
| Yorktown, Virginia, to San Francisco, California; midway through | ||
| his journey, he connected with a group biking to raise funds and | ||
| awareness about multiple sclerosis, and he joined their cause; | ||
| moreover, this summer he will participate in a 2,636-mile bike | ||
| trek from Maine to Florida, which he helped organize and for | ||
| which his team plans to raise $30,000 to benefit the National | ||
| Multiple Sclerosis Society; and | ||
| WHEREAS, By working to earn a Congressional Award Gold | ||
| Medal, Stephen Rosenberger has demonstrated remarkable | ||
| initiative and determination, as well as a steadfast commitment | ||
| to serving his community, and he is truly a worthy role model for | ||
| his fellow Texans; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mr. Rosenberger as an expression of high regard by | ||
| the Texas Senate. | ||
