SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 655
WHEREAS, The 90th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed
cause for celebration, and Rita Polland is marking this
significant milestone in her life on April 21, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Born in 1927, Mrs. Polland is not a native of the
Lone Star State, but after residing within its borders in 1968,
she resolved to return one day; she achieved that commendable
goal in 2015; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Polland was employed as a secretary until
her retirement; sensible and levelheaded, she has lovingly
guided several generations of descendants, and today she
rejoices in her role as matriarch of a large extended family; she
sets an example for others as an active citizen; and
WHEREAS, Rita Polland is a source of tremendous
inspiration, and in sharing the experience gained through nine
decades of life well lived, she bestows a precious gift of wisdom
that benefits all who are fortunate enough to know her; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby congratulate Rita Polland on the joyous
occasion of her 90th birthday and extend to her sincere best
wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
Mrs. Polland as an expression of high regard from the Texas
Senate.
