| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Walter R. Dassdorf on the occasion of his 100th | ||
| birthday; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman is well known for | ||
| his wisdom and generosity of spirit, and he is a revered resident | ||
| of the Terrace Retirement Community in Webster; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Walter Dassdorf was born July 12, 1913, in a log | ||
| cabin in Jones Mills, Pennsylvania; he grew up in Pittsburgh, | ||
| where he attended the innovative Schenley High School, and he | ||
| went on to study at Carnegie Mellon University; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Dassdorf enjoyed a long and productive career | ||
| with the Crucible Steel Company and retired in 1978; throughout | ||
| his life, he has been much in demand by family and friends for his | ||
| exceptional skills as an inventor, repairman, and locksmith, and | ||
| he is noted for his creative woodworking projects; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In celebration of his birthday, friends and | ||
| family are gathering on July 12, 2013, to congratulate him and | ||
| share in this milestone in his life; a beloved and respected | ||
| member of his community, he is known for his wide-ranging | ||
| interests and ongoing educational efforts, his loyalty in | ||
| friendship, and his enthusiasm for living each day to the | ||
| fullest; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, | ||
| 83rd Legislature, hereby commend Walter R. Dassdorf on his many | ||
| achievements and extend to him best wishes for an enjoyable and | ||
| festive 100th birthday celebration; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. | ||
