| WHEREAS, A strong democracy depends on a citizenry | ||
| involved with the issues of the day and committed to | ||
| participation in the political process; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Walker County Republican Women has long played an | ||
| active role in its East Texas community; since its founding, the | ||
| group has worked to support and elect Republican candidates and | ||
| to promote the ideals and principles of the Republican Party; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The organization currently has 100 members who | ||
| are committed to increasing political awareness as they | ||
| participate in candidate forums, the Trade Expo and Taste of | ||
| Huntsville, Fair on the Square, and the annual Walker County | ||
| Republican Reagan Dinner; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Through their grassroots advocacy, members of | ||
| Walker County Republican Women are making a lasting difference in | ||
| their community, state, and nation, and they may take justifiable | ||
| pride in their rich history of civic engagement; now, therefore, | ||
| be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, | ||
| 83rd Legislature, hereby honor Walker County Republican Women | ||
| and extend to its members sincere best wishes for the future; | ||
| and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be | ||
| prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas Senate. | ||
