| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Victor Treviño Jr. of Laredo for his outstanding | ||
| achievements as an Ironman competitor; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Ironman competitions are among the most grueling | ||
| athletic events in the world; an Ironman competition consists of | ||
| a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bicycle ride, and a 26.2-mile run; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Victor Treviño Jr. first became interested in | ||
| Ironman training while he was living in Hawaii, where the Ironman | ||
| world championship is held; he began working out as a means to | ||
| lose weight and to improve his self-worth, but he has far | ||
| exceeded his original goal and has become one of the leading | ||
| Ironman athletes in the world; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He has qualified for and scheduled to compete in | ||
| the 2017 Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, on | ||
| October 14, 2017; he takes great pride in the fact that he has | ||
| been able to train for this prestigious event in his hometown | ||
| of Laredo, where he also serves as a coach and mentor to other | ||
| athletes; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Victor Treviño Jr. has been an exemplary ambassador | ||
| for his community and his state, and he is truly deserving of | ||
| special recognition for his hard work and determination, his | ||
| impressive endurance and skill, and his commitment to athletic | ||
| excellence; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Victor Treviño | ||
| Jr. on his outstanding achievements in Ironman competition and | ||
| extend to him best wishes for continued success in all of his | ||
| endeavors; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him | ||
| as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
