| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize the Port Neches-Groves High School Unified track and | ||
| field team on winning the 2025 Unified Track and Field University | ||
| Interscholastic League State Championship on April 25, 2025; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Unified track and field is a program under the | ||
| University Interscholastic League and Special Olympics Texas | ||
| that promotes social inclusion by enabling students with and | ||
| without intellectual disabilities to train and compete | ||
| together on the same team; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Port Neches-Groves Unified team has | ||
| demonstrated exceptional dedication, teamwork, and | ||
| sportsmanship in earning this prestigious title, and these | ||
| young athletes can take pride in their outstanding | ||
| accomplishments; and | ||
| WHEREAS, As the only school in the area with a Unified | ||
| team, Port Neches-Groves has set an inspiring example for other | ||
| schools and communities across the state to incorporate Unified | ||
| sports into their athletics programs and to foster greater | ||
| leadership, connection, health, and shared achievement among all | ||
| students; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Unified track and field team are a source of | ||
| tremendous pride to the students, coaches, and faculty of Port | ||
| Neches-Groves High School and the Port Nueces, Groves, and | ||
| surrounding communities, and the team members are indeed worthy | ||
| of special recognition for their hard work and their outstanding | ||
| performances during the track and field season; now, therefore, | ||
| be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th | ||
| Legislature, hereby congratulate the Port Neches-Groves High | ||
| School Unified track and field team on winning the 2025 state | ||
| championship and extend to all of the team's athletes and coaches | ||
| sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| the team as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
