| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize members of the United States Army's Senior Service | ||
| College Fellows Program; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A component of the United States Army War College, | ||
| the Senior Service College Fellows Program consists of a year of | ||
| intensive academic study for selected officers that focuses on | ||
| the relationships between national security policy and its | ||
| implementation, technology and industry, and military policy and | ||
| process; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&M | ||
| University have served as host universities for this program for | ||
| two decades; the national security policy and process component | ||
| of the program combines directed and elective study at the Lyndon | ||
| B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, the McCombs School of | ||
| Business, The University of Texas Department of Government, and | ||
| the Bush School of Government and Public Service; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The program of study is complemented with a series | ||
| of lectures and dialogue with prominent industry representatives, | ||
| congressional and world leaders, and key military commands; the | ||
| officers participating in this prestigious program will move on to | ||
| assignments in senior military leadership positions around the | ||
| world; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Under the expert direction of Lieutenant General | ||
| Joe Yakovac, Retired, the following officers are completing their | ||
| United States Army War College requirements through Texas | ||
| universities: Colonel John Anderson, Lieutenant Colonel William | ||
| Bailey, Colonel Timothy Baxter, Lieutenant Colonel David | ||
| Kaczmarski, Colonel Robert McVay, Colonel Rick Noriega, | ||
| Lieutenant Colonel William Phillips, Colonel Kurt Pinkerton, | ||
| Lieutenant Colonel Dale Rivers, Lieutenant Colonel William | ||
| Robare, Colonel Maria Zumwalt, Colonel James Raymer, and | ||
| Lieutenant Colonel Willie Rios; and | ||
| WHEREAS, These distinguished officers have more than 250 | ||
| years of combined military experience and have each served on | ||
| numerous deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and | ||
| Operation Iraqi Freedom; they are truly deserving of recognition | ||
| for their devotion to duty and their exemplary service; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend the participants in the United | ||
| States Army's Senior Service College Fellows Program and extend | ||
| to them best wishes for continued success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| them as an expression of gratitude and esteem from the Texas | ||
| Senate. | ||
