| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Dr. Marilyn Harrington, who has been selected for | ||
| induction into the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame for her | ||
| outstanding work in the health professions; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame honors those | ||
| women who have contributed significantly to the San Antonio | ||
| community and the Bexar County region through their | ||
| accomplishments in their profession or field of service; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Dr. Marilyn Harrington has degrees in dental | ||
| hygiene and a doctorate in higher education administration; she | ||
| is the retired dean of the School of Health Professions at The | ||
| University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio; and | ||
| WHEREAS, During her tenure with the school, the enrollment | ||
| doubled, and she made concerted efforts to recruit and retain | ||
| students from underrepresented groups and from economically and | ||
| educationally disadvantaged backgrounds; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Dr. Harrington is highly respected for her | ||
| dedication to her work and for her outstanding accomplishments in | ||
| the field of health professions, and she is an inspiration to | ||
| women across our state; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Marilyn Harrington for her | ||
| exceptional achievements and extend congratulations to her on | ||
| her induction into the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame; and, be | ||
| it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
