| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Geraldine J. Garcia, who has been selected for | ||
| induction into the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame for her | ||
| outstanding work in public service; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame honors those | ||
| women who have contributed significantly to the San Antonio | ||
| community and the Bexar County region through their | ||
| accomplishments in their profession or field of service; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Geraldine Garcia is the assistant chief of police | ||
| in the San Antonio Police Department; a role model in this | ||
| nontraditional field for women, she is committed to making the | ||
| streets of San Antonio safer for all and to improving the quality | ||
| of life for its citizens; and | ||
| WHEREAS, She was instrumental in the development of the | ||
| Downtown Safe Zone video cameras and twilight patrol shift; she | ||
| created the Community Policing Unit, and she serves as a | ||
| motivational speaker for the department; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Geraldine Garcia is highly respected for her | ||
| dedication to her work and for her many accomplishments as a | ||
| police officer, and her success in her profession serves as an | ||
| example to women across our state; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Geraldine Garcia for her exceptional | ||
| public service and extend congratulations to her on her induction | ||
| into the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
