Rosa Maria Barrera Arguindegui | ||
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and | ||
commemorates the life of Rosa Maria Barrera Arguindegui, who died | ||
June 4, 2011, at the age of 79; and | ||
WHEREAS, Rosa Maria Barrera Arguindegui was born June 3, 1932, | ||
in Mexico City; she attended the prestigious Colegio Alemán | ||
Alexander von Humboldt and the Jesuit Universidad | ||
Iberoamericana; and | ||
WHEREAS, She worked for some years for Proctor and Gamble | ||
de Mexico before marrying Carlos Arguindegui in 1959 and moving | ||
to Laredo; she earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Laredo | ||
State University and served as a teacher for 20 years at Martin | ||
High School; and | ||
WHEREAS, A devout Catholic who practiced her faith in her | ||
daily life, Mrs. Arguindegui regularly attended the Adoration | ||
Chapel at Saint Patrick Catholic Church and made regular | ||
pilgrimages throughout the United States and Europe; and | ||
WHEREAS, A woman of many cultural interests, she had a | ||
great appreciation for the arts, travel, history, gourmet | ||
cooking, and playing cards with good friends, and her warm | ||
hospitality and loyal friendship will not be forgotten by those | ||
who knew her; and | ||
WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, | ||
and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by | ||
her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere | ||
condolences to the bereaved family of Rosa Maria Barrera | ||
Arguindegui; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of | ||
Rosa Maria Barrera Arguindegui. | ||
