| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Ricky Phillips for his outstanding contributions to | ||
| the field of popular music; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Ricky was raised in Northern California with an | ||
| appreciation of the arts through the efforts of his parents, who | ||
| were active in local theater and who encouraged him in his | ||
| pursuit of music; and | ||
| WHEREAS, After beginning his musical training on the | ||
| piano, he became enthralled by the guitar and the bass, and he | ||
| founded his first band at the age of 12; he dropped out of college | ||
| to pursue a full-time career in music and was soon hired to play | ||
| bass for the British band the Babys; and | ||
| WHEREAS, | ||
| WHEREAS, Ricky Phillips has brought great pleasure to | ||
| countless audiences through the years, and it is fitting that he | ||
| be recognized; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Ricky Phillips on his many | ||
| accomplishments and extend to him best wishes for continued | ||
| success in all his endeavors; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
