| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Pastor Kenneth Ray Levingston for his exemplary | ||
| leadership in the Houston community; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Kenneth Levingston has served as pastor of Jones | ||
| Memorial United Methodist Church since 2008; under his guidance, | ||
| the church has continued to grow and to play a vital role in the | ||
| life of the community; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Pastor Levingston earned a master of divinity | ||
| degree from the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist | ||
| University and served at several churches throughout the Houston | ||
| area before joining Jones Memorial United Methodist Church; he is | ||
| noted for his ability to communicate with people from all | ||
| backgrounds, from rural to suburban to urban and multicultural; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He has been active in the community through his | ||
| work in creating an after-school mentoring program, his | ||
| volunteer efforts at Frost Elementary School, and his service on | ||
| the board of Houston Methodist Hospital and the Texas Annual | ||
| Conference Board of Ordained Ministry; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Inspirational and dedicated to helping others, this | ||
| beloved pastor has had a profound impact on the lives of his church | ||
| members and on the community at large; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Pastor Kenneth Ray Levingston on his | ||
| exceptional service to Jones Memorial United Methodist Church | ||
| and his community and extend to him best wishes for continued | ||
| success in all his endeavors; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. | ||
