SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 581
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Shiner BBQ Cook-off; and
WHEREAS, This exceptional event is produced annually by
the Shiner Chamber of Commerce, and this year, the cook-off is
being held in conjunction with the city's Half Moon Holiday
Celebration on the Fourth of July weekend; and
WHEREAS, Sanctioned by the International Barbeque Cookers
Association as one of the organization's annual state cook-offs,
the Shiner BBQ Cook-off features talented chefs who compete to
produce the tastiest of culinary favorites; and
WHEREAS, The weekend celebration includes a variety of
family-friendly activities, including a pageant, a parade, and a
spectacular fireworks show; proceeds from the event are used to
provide scholarships to local youth; and
WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their love of barbecue, and
the Shiner BBQ Cook-off is sure to provide a spirited competition
and first-rate cuisine that will satisfy the most discriminating
palates; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
Legislature, hereby commend the sponsors of and participants in
the Shiner BBQ Cook-off and extend to them best wishes for a
successful event; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
