Margaret McLeod Hunter | ||
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and | ||
commemorates the life of Margaret McLeod Hunter, who died | ||
February 10, 2021, at the age of 96; and | ||
WHEREAS, Margaret Hunter was born on September 17, 1924, in | ||
Sumter, South Carolina; she graduated in 1941 from Sumter High | ||
School, and she earned a degree from the University of South | ||
Carolina in 1945; and | ||
WHEREAS, She married her beloved husband of 65 years, the | ||
late Samuel Marvin Hunter Jr., in December of 1946, and the | ||
couple was blessed with four children; their 13 grandchildren and | ||
seven great-grandchildren were a source of much pride and joy for | ||
her; and | ||
WHEREAS, A devout Christian who practiced her faith in her | ||
daily life, she was a longtime member of First Presbyterian | ||
Church of Sumter, where she served as a deacon and an elder; her | ||
other community activities included a 70-year membership in the | ||
Mother-Daughter Book Club; she was a founding member of Les Coeur | ||
Cognes, and she served as president of the Sumter Junior Welfare | ||
League; and | ||
WHEREAS, A woman of wisdom, grace, and generosity, she was | ||
devoted to her family and to her many friends, and she leaves | ||
behind memories that will be treasured forever by all who were | ||
privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th | ||
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend sincere | ||
condolences to the bereaved family of Margaret McLeod Hunter; | ||
and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
memory of Margaret Hunter. | ||
