| Whitney Cotton | ||
| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and | ||
| commemorates the life of Whitney Cotton, who died March 15, 2015, | ||
| at the age of 41; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Whit Cotton was born on January 2, 1974, in Silsbee, | ||
| to Leola and William Cotton; he graduated from Buna High School, | ||
| where he was a standout athlete in football and weightlifting; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He moved to Austin to attend college and to begin | ||
| a career; after working for a time in the computer industry, he | ||
| embarked on a career in real estate, which allowed him to pursue | ||
| his passion for helping others by assisting them in finding homes | ||
| for their families; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A devout Christian who practiced his faith in his | ||
| daily life, Mr. Cotton was a member of Mount Sinai Missionary | ||
| Baptist Church; he was a source of strength to those in need of | ||
| support or shelter, and he strived to provide people with the | ||
| things they needed to succeed in life; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He was a man of courage and compassion who gave | ||
| unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, his generous spirit, and | ||
| his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be | ||
| forgotten by those who were privileged to share in his life; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He was a devoted and loving son and brother, and | ||
| he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his | ||
| family and many friends; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th | ||
| Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
| family of Whitney Cotton; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
| Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
| memory of Whitney Cotton. | ||
