| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize the Parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in San Antonio | ||
| on the grand occasion of its centennial anniversary, which is | ||
| being celebrated in 2013; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help was | ||
| founded by the Reverend John Muehlsiepen on April 13, 1913; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Over the years, the parish has served the | ||
| spiritual needs of innumerable Catholics; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The current church building was built in 1963, | ||
| when the original church building had become too small to | ||
| accommodate its flock of over 400 families; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Due to the guidance and wise stewardship of its | ||
| leaders, the congregation has undertaken many worthy projects | ||
| with the community; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help has | ||
| become an invaluable source of strength for its members during | ||
| times of hardship and bereavement, and it has shared in many | ||
| celebrations during times of abundance and joy; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In addition to offering daily and Sunday Mass, Our | ||
| Lady of Perpetual Help has a food pantry to feed the hungry and | ||
| serves the needs of parishioners and residents of the east side | ||
| of San Antonio with various events and activities throughout the | ||
| year; the celebration of its 100th anniversary is indeed a joyous | ||
| event worthy of recognition; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, | ||
| 83rd Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to the clergy and | ||
| members of the Parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help on the joyous | ||
| occasion of its 100th anniversary; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared to | ||
| commemorate this historic event. | ||
