| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the | ||
| citizens of Fort Worth in mourning the loss of Dr. Carl R. "Dick" | ||
| Coers III, who died March 9, 2013, at the age of 78; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Dick Coers was born September 24, 1934, in Oxford, | ||
| Mississippi; he earned his bachelor's and medical degrees from | ||
| the University of Mississippi and completed his internship at The | ||
| University of Texas Medical Branch and his general surgical | ||
| residency at the University of Tennessee and John Gaston Hospital | ||
| in Memphis, Tennessee; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Dr. Coers chose plastic surgery as his field of | ||
| specialization and completed his residency for the specialty at | ||
| The University of Texas Medical Branch; he opened his medical | ||
| practice in Fort Worth in 1967 and throughout his career provided | ||
| the people of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex with | ||
| individualized, quality health care; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Dr. Coers was a staff member at numerous area | ||
| hospitals and was active in many professional organizations, | ||
| including the Texas Medical Association, the American Medical | ||
| Association, and the American Society of Plastic and | ||
| Reconstructive Surgery; he was a diplomate of the American Board | ||
| of Plastic Surgery and a fellow of the American College of | ||
| Surgeons, and he generously offered his services as a volunteer | ||
| at the Cook Children's Medical Center and the Gladney Center for | ||
| Adoption; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A man of wisdom, warmth, and kindness, he gave | ||
| unselfishly to others, and his generous spirit and enthusiasm for | ||
| living each day to the fullest will not be forgotten; and | ||
| WHEREAS, | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd | ||
| Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
| family of Dr. Carl R. Coers III; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
| Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
| memory of Dr. Carl R. Coers III. | ||
