SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 556
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize North Star Baptist Church International on the
occasion of its 35th anniversary, which was celebrated March 10,
2013; and
WHEREAS, North Star Baptist Church International traces
its roots to a congregation organized in 1978 under the
leadership of the late Dr. Herman Walker, Sr., and Ernestine
Walker; and
WHEREAS, Through the years, the church has ministered
faithfully to the temporal and spiritual needs of countless
people; and
WHEREAS, Under the leadership and wise stewardship of its
pastors, the church has continued to grow and to play a vital role
in the life of the community; it has served as a foundation for
numerous other ministries and organizations, including the New
Deliverance Outreach Center, the Global Music Conservatory of
the Arts, and the North Star Institute of Theology; and
WHEREAS, North Star Baptist Church International has been
an invaluable source of strength to church members during their
hardships and in times of bereavement and a place of fellowship
in times of prosperity; and
WHEREAS, The celebration of its 35th anniversary is a
reflection of the church's enduring commitment to provide
enlightenment and hope to its congregation and the community;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to the clergy and members
of North Star Baptist Church International on the joyous occasion
of its 35th anniversary; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the church as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
