	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 552
	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
	recognize the Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors Bureau,
	which is hosting the inaugural Fiesta de la Flor on April 17 and
	18, 2015; and

	WHEREAS, This special event is a celebration of the life
	and legacy of Selena Quintanilla Perez, whose Tejano music helped
	shape the vibrant culture of the city and influenced Tejano music
	worldwide; and

	WHEREAS, The two-day celebration is taking place at North
	Bayfront Park and is showcasing well-known Tejano musicians;
	visitors can watch a special screening of Selena, peruse crafts
	of artisan vendors from across the state, and enjoy culinary
	delights from local and regional food trucks; the event will
	close with a spectacular fireworks show; and

	WHEREAS, The Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors
	Bureau, the Quintanilla family, and a number of local businesses
	and community partners collaborated to bring this new annual
	tradition to residents and visitors; and

	WHEREAS, Selena Perez was a beloved resident of the city,
	and she touched the hearts of many; her music inspired fans of all
	ages and helped bring Tejano music into the American mainstream,
	and the Fiesta de la Flor is a fitting tribute to her legacy; now,
	therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
	Legislature, hereby commend all who have contributed to the debut
	of Fiesta de la Flor and extend best wishes for an enjoyable
	inaugural celebration in honor of Selena; and, be it further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as a
	memento of this special occasion.
