Joe Limon Avila | ||
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the | ||
citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of business owner Joe | ||
Limon Avila, who died January 9, 2011, at the age of 81; and | ||
WHEREAS, Joe Avila was born in Austin April 14, 1929; he | ||
proudly served his country in the United States Army during the | ||
Korean War and received a Purple Heart; and | ||
WHEREAS, He dedicated his life to his childhood dream of | ||
becoming a restaurant owner; he believed and proved that anything | ||
is possible if you work hard and persevere; Joe's Bakery and | ||
Coffee Shop was the fulfillment of his dream; and | ||
WHEREAS, He also believed strongly in giving back to the | ||
community, and he always remembered the neighborhood from which | ||
he came; he loved to make people laugh and delighted in playing | ||
jokes; and | ||
WHEREAS, The way he lived his life and his devout faith | ||
played a vital role in the way he raised his daughters, whom he | ||
inspired to accept both the joys and hardships of life; he leaves | ||
a legacy of service and accomplishments that will be long | ||
remembered by all who knew him; and | ||
WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband to his wife of 56 years, | ||
Pauline, and a loving father and grandfather, and he leaves | ||
behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and | ||
many friends; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Joe Limon Avila and | ||
extend sincere condolences to his bereaved family; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
memory of Joe Limon Avila. | ||
