| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Clayton Johnson, who has retired after 59 years of | ||
| exceptional work as a barber in the city of Austin; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Clayton Johnson began cutting hair at the age of | ||
| 20 at Arnold's on Guadalupe Street; he worked for a time at | ||
| Tarrytown Barbershop and at Roy's Barbershop before establishing | ||
| his own business, Clayton's, in 1968; he moved his shop to | ||
| Hancock Drive in 1971; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Through the years, he has developed a loyal | ||
| clientele that has often included multiple generations of the | ||
| same family; he is noted for both the quality of his work and his | ||
| engaging conversation with patrons; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Over the course of his career, he has received the | ||
| invaluable support of his beloved wife, Carolyn, and he and | ||
| Carolyn have been blessed with four children, 10 grandchildren, | ||
| and four great-grandchildren; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Clayton Johnson has been an important part of the | ||
| fabric of life in Austin for nearly six decades, and it is truly | ||
| fitting that he receive special recognition as his career draws | ||
| to a close; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Clayton Johnson on his many | ||
| contributions to his community and extend to him best wishes for | ||
| continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. | ||
