| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize the members of the Rowlett Citizen Corps Council on the | ||
| occasion of the group's 10th anniversary on March 1, 2013; and | ||
| WHEREAS, These dedicated men and women are committed to | ||
| ensuring that the city of Rowlett has reliable and well-prepared | ||
| emergency response teams; its members have contributed over | ||
| 75,000 volunteer service hours, with a value of more than $1.6 | ||
| million; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The group's mission is to harness the power of | ||
| Rowlett citizens through education, training, volunteerism, and | ||
| support services; the programs sponsored by the council are | ||
| designed to make the area safer, stronger, and better able to | ||
| respond to crime, public health crises, acts of terrorism, and | ||
| natural and manmade disasters; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Rowlett Citizen Corps Council sponsors six | ||
| citizen corps programs, including the Rowlett Community | ||
| Emergency Response Team, the Rowlett Fire Corps, the Rowlett | ||
| Volunteers in Police Services, and the Rowlett Neighborhood | ||
| Crime Watch; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Since its inception, the group has trained 454 | ||
| community emergency response team students; the organization's | ||
| members have made it a priority to serve their community, and | ||
| those members are indeed deserving of praise and recognition; | ||
| now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend the Rowlett Citizen Corps Council on | ||
| the occasion of the organization's 10th anniversary and extend to | ||
| its members sincere best wishes for success in all of the group's | ||
| future endeavors; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| the Rowlett Citizen Corps Council as an expression of high regard | ||
| from the Texas Senate. | ||
