| WHEREAS, Rachel Anne Samek of Valley View has earned great | ||
| distinction with her receipt of the American Heritage Girls Stars & | ||
| Stripes Award; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Stars & Stripes Award is the highest honor | ||
| given by AHG, a faith-centered leadership development program | ||
| for girls 5 to 18 years of age; dedicated to the mission of | ||
| building women of integrity through service to God, family, | ||
| community, and country, the initiative provides a wide range of | ||
| programs for youth as they learn the values of perseverance and | ||
| responsibility; award criteria includes achieving a required | ||
| number of merit badges, holding a troop leadership position, | ||
| overseeing a service project, and passing a board review; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The daughter of Gary and Ellen Samek, Rachel Anne | ||
| Samek belongs to AHG Troop TX1618; she joined AHG at the age of | ||
| five and is the first in her family to complete the program, | ||
| having earned all five of the level awards over the course of her | ||
| 13 years of membership; for the Stars & Stripes Award, she | ||
| exceeded the required number of 16 merit badges by receiving 34, | ||
| and she put in more than 350 hours on her community service | ||
| project that involved building four fitness and exercise | ||
| stations for residents along the Jaycee Park walking trail in | ||
| Gainesville; and | ||
| WHEREAS, During her high school years, Ms. Samek has | ||
| served as the senior girl leader and elite honor guard commander | ||
| for her troop; moreover, she has garnered numerous awards as a | ||
| member of the Cooke County 4-H Club, and she is also affiliated | ||
| with the Texas 4-H Council, the Benjamin Lyon Chapter of the | ||
| National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, and the | ||
| Star of Destiny Chapter of Colonial Dames 17th Century; in | ||
| addition, she is a member of the Red River Christian | ||
| Homeschoolers community, New Life Bible Church, and Awana Clubs | ||
| of Denton Bible Church; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This accomplished young Texan has demonstrated | ||
| remarkable initiative and dedication in the pursuit of her goals | ||
| and service to her fellow citizens, and she is a source of great | ||
| pride to her family and her community; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th | ||
| Legislature, hereby congratulate Rachel Anne Samek on receiving | ||
| the American Heritage Girls Stars & Stripes Award and extend to | ||
| her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be | ||
| prepared for Ms. Samek as an expression of high regard from the | ||
| Texas Senate. | ||
