| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Raymundo Arellano, Jr., who retired May 20, 2011, after | ||
| nearly three decades of outstanding service with the Brownsville | ||
| Police Department; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Officer Arellano joined the Brownsville Police | ||
| Department in 1982 and began patrolling on horseback; he went on | ||
| to serve with many divisions within the department, including the | ||
| Special Investigations Unit, the Burglary Detail Task Force, | ||
| Municipal Court Operations, the Training Division, and the | ||
| Office of Community Affairs; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Dedicated to helping the people of Brownsville, | ||
| Officer Arellano served as coordinator for the department's | ||
| Community and Youth Programs; he played an important role in the | ||
| success of the department's annual Christmas for Kids Toy | ||
| Giveaway; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A man of courage and tenacity, Officer Arellano | ||
| has been dedicated to making the streets of Brownsville safer for | ||
| its citizens, and he has consistently demonstrated solid | ||
| judgment in dealing with the unique challenges of law enforcement | ||
| duty; in honor of his superior service, he received the | ||
| department's Employee Recognition Award; and | ||
| WHEREAS, An exemplary peace officer, he is respected and | ||
| admired by his colleagues, and his presence at the Brownsville | ||
| Police Department will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Raymundo | ||
| Arellano, Jr., on his exceptional service to the people of | ||
| Brownsville as an officer with the Brownsville Police | ||
| Department; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
