WHEREAS, Members and staff of the Texas Rural Water | ||
Association are gathering in Austin on March 20, 2013, to | ||
celebrate Rural Water Day at the State Capitol; and | ||
WHEREAS, Texas Rural Water Association was established in | ||
1969 as a statewide nonprofit trade association with an active | ||
membership consisting of more than 740 nonprofit water supply | ||
corporations, small-town water departments, special utility | ||
districts, municipal utility districts, investor-owned | ||
utilities, and individual members who supply water to | ||
approximately 2.5 million people; and | ||
WHEREAS, Texas Rural Water Association is headquartered in | ||
Austin and governed by a volunteer board of directors consisting | ||
of representatives from districts across the state; and | ||
WHEREAS, Texas Rural Water Association is dedicated to | ||
helping directors, managers, and operators provide efficient | ||
service and clean, safe drinking water to their customers through | ||
on-site technical assistance, education and information | ||
exchange, member support services, and legislative and | ||
regulatory representation; and | ||
WHEREAS, Texas Rural Water Association is the advocate for | ||
rural and small water and wastewater system issues in the | ||
legislative and regulatory process to ensure that rules and | ||
regulations are reasonable, practical, and affordable; and | ||
WHEREAS, National Rural Water Association board president | ||
Doug Anderton has traveled from Georgia to show his friendship to | ||
Texas Rural Water Association and the kinship between the State | ||
of Georgia and the State of Texas; and | ||
WHEREAS, The membership of the association is converging | ||
for its 44th annual convention March 20 through March 22, 2013, | ||
to discuss pressing issues to the water and wastewater industry; | ||
now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, | ||
83rd Legislature, hereby recognize March 20, 2013, as Rural | ||
Water Day at the State Capitol and extend to the visiting | ||
delegation sincere best wishes for a memorable and meaningful | ||
visit to Austin; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared to | ||
commemorate this special day. | ||
