| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Judy Moore, who has been named the 2021 Teacher | ||
| Advocate of the Year by the Texas Public Charter Schools | ||
| Association; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Judy Moore is a middle school teacher at Austin | ||
| Achieve Public Schools; in addition to her exemplary work in the | ||
| classroom, she is known for her efforts to help other teachers | ||
| become involved in Texas public education policy; and | ||
| WHEREAS, She serves as a coach and mentor to other | ||
| educators at the Teacher Advocacy Leadership Institute and works | ||
| with them in their efforts to share their experiences and | ||
| priorities with local and state lawmakers; she recently | ||
| organized a virtual teachers rally that facilitated dialogue | ||
| among educators across the state; and | ||
| WHEREAS, She has been featured in media outlets such as | ||
| Reform Austin to explain the ways that she and other teachers | ||
| adapted to the need for virtual instruction during the COVID-19 | ||
| pandemic; she also helped to arrange a virtual meeting for her | ||
| students to meet with a state lawmaker; and | ||
| WHEREAS, As a first-generation college graduate, she | ||
| appreciates the power of public education in unlocking students' | ||
| potential, and she has worked tirelessly in support of our | ||
| state's students and educators; it is truly fitting that she | ||
| receive special recognition for her outstanding work and her many | ||
| contributions to public education in Texas; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Judy Moore on her commitment to | ||
| excellence in education and extend congratulations to her on being | ||
| named the 2021 Teacher Advocate of the Year; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
