| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Gregory Harrington, who has been named the 2021 Parent | ||
| Advocate of the Year by the Texas Public Charter Schools | ||
| Association; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Harrington serves on the Advisory Board of | ||
| Harmony Science Academy, a public charter school, and on the | ||
| Strategic Planning Committee of the Pflugerville Independent | ||
| School District; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He has used his platform as a member of the | ||
| National Society of Black Engineers to organize opportunities | ||
| for area students to meet with professionals from science, | ||
| technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) occupations; he | ||
| has also organized a back-to-school parade and fund-raiser to | ||
| purchase school supplies for students who need them; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He was a motivational speaker at the 2021 Parent | ||
| Pep Rally hosted by the Texas Public Charter Schools Association, | ||
| and he regularly meets with Central Texas lawmakers on behalf of | ||
| parents; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He is a powerful advocate for students and | ||
| families in Central Texas, and it is truly fitting that he | ||
| receive special recognition; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Gregory Harrington on his commitment | ||
| to excellence in education and extend congratulations to him on | ||
| his selection as the 2021 Parent Advocate of the Year; and, be it | ||
| further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
