| WHEREAS, The Bexar County Junior Livestock Show BBQ Cook-off | ||
| is taking place on April 24 and 25, 2015, in San Antonio; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Sanctioned by the International Barbeque Cookers | ||
| Association, the cook-off serves as a showcase for Texas-style | ||
| cuisine as entrants vie to produce the tastiest brisket, pork spare | ||
| ribs, and chicken, as well as other meats and side dishes; cash | ||
| prizes are awarded to the top-finishing pit masters, and attendees | ||
| can also enjoy live music, a car show, auctions, and arts and | ||
| crafts; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Proceeds from the event benefit the Build a Barn | ||
| and Scholarship Fund administered by the Bexar County Junior | ||
| Livestock Show, a nonprofit organization committed to youth | ||
| development; for more than 50 years, the group's volunteers have | ||
| promoted education in the agricultural sciences by sponsoring | ||
| livestock programs, livestock and land judging activities, and | ||
| projects related to agricultural mechanics and food and | ||
| nutrition; these dedicated individuals also devote numerous | ||
| hours to raising scholarship funds to benefit young Texans who | ||
| have demonstrated outstanding community service and enthusiasm | ||
| for agricultural studies; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Bexar County Junior Livestock Show is | ||
| providing participants with opportunities to learn lifelong | ||
| skills and values, and special recognition is owed to the men and | ||
| women who have worked tirelessly to ensure its success; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th | ||
| Legislature, hereby honor the Bexar County Junior Livestock Show | ||
| and its annual barbecue cook-off event and commend all those | ||
| associated with the group for their immeasurable contributions to | ||
| the community and to the young people of Texas; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be | ||
| prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard | ||
| from the Texas Senate. | ||
