| Susana Imelda Alemán | ||
| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and | ||
| commemorates the life of Susana Imelda Alemán, who died | ||
| March 21, 2025, at the age of 70; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Susana was born on July 17, 1954, in Edinburg, and | ||
| she grew up as a proud resident of the Rio Grande Valley; she | ||
| graduated as valedictorian of Falfurrias High School in 1972, and | ||
| she went on to attend The University of Texas at Austin and remained | ||
| a devoted and lifelong supporter of the Texas Longhorns; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Passionate about civics and the importance of | ||
| education, Susana earned bachelor's and master's degrees from The | ||
| University of Texas at Austin and embarked on a career as an | ||
| educator in public schools in Austin and Falfurrias; she pursued | ||
| a second master's degree, which she earned from Texas A&I | ||
| University, and she went on to earn a juris doctorate from The | ||
| University of Texas School of Law in 1984; and | ||
| WHEREAS, That same year, Susana was hired as the assistant | ||
| dean of student affairs at The University of Texas School of | ||
| Law, and during her 22-year tenure in the university's | ||
| administration, she became a trusted mentor, a renowned event | ||
| organizer, and a beloved friend to countless students and | ||
| colleagues; she instituted two scholarship programs as an | ||
| expression of her commitment to supporting future law students, | ||
| and she gave generously of her energy, time, and talents as a | ||
| member of the Austin law community and taught Texas government | ||
| classes at Austin Community College; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Susana practiced her spiritual faith in her daily | ||
| life, and she was recognized for her devotion to and | ||
| participation in many ministries at Saint Albert the Great | ||
| Catholic Church; she was noted for her genuine care for the | ||
| well-being of others, her enthusiasm for celebrating special | ||
| moments, and her loyalty and dedication to her alma mater, her | ||
| friends, and her loving family; Susana was a source of | ||
| inspiration to those who knew her, and she made a positive and | ||
| lasting impact in the lives of innumerable people; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, strength, and generosity, | ||
| Susana gave unselfishly to others, and her wisdom, warmth, and | ||
| the joy she took in living each day to the fullest will be forever | ||
| treasured by her loved ones and by all who were privileged to | ||
| share in her life; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th | ||
| Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
| family of Susana Imelda Alemán; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
| Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
| memory of Susana Alemán. | ||
