| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Matthew Michael Bridges of Boy Scout Troop 87 in Corpus | ||
| Christi for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout; this fine young | ||
| man joined the elite corps of Eagles recently and was presented | ||
| the coveted Eagle Badge at a Court of Honor; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Few achieve this distinguished honor; only five | ||
| out of every 100 boys in the Boy Scout program attain the rank of | ||
| Eagle Scout; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Following the principles of the Scout oath and | ||
| promise, Matthew advanced through the ranks of Tenderfoot, | ||
| Second, First, Star, and Life classes before reaching Eagle | ||
| Scout; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This personable young man displayed leadership | ||
| through planning, developing, and conducting a service project | ||
| that benefited his community; for his project, Matthew | ||
| constructed a concrete picnic area with two eight-foot | ||
| steel-framed picnic tables and a barbecue pit at a low-income | ||
| apartment complex owned by a local church; Matthew is truly a | ||
| shining example to his fellow scouts and the young people of | ||
| Texas; and | ||
| WHEREAS, By becoming an Eagle Scout, Matthew has brought | ||
| great honor to himself, his family, his troop, his community, and | ||
| his state; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, | ||
| 83rd Legislature, hereby commend Matthew Michael Bridges on | ||
| receiving this prestigious honor and congratulate him on his | ||
| outstanding achievement; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| Eagle Scout Bridges as an expression of esteem from the | ||
| Texas Senate. | ||
