SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 482
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to pay
tribute to Bob Wessels, who is retiring from his service as court
manager for the Harris County Courts at Law, a position he has
held since 1976; and
WHEREAS, As court manager, he has been responsible for the
15 county criminal courts at law and four county civil courts at
law, and he has served as a source of administrative support to
the 16 justices of the peace courts in Harris County; in
addition, he has served as an adjunct professor at the University
of Houston-Clear Lake, Sam Houston State University, the
Institute for Court Management, and the Texas College for New
Judges; and
WHEREAS, He is a founding member of the Texas Association
for Court Administration and has served as a member of the board
of directors of the Justice Management Institute and of the
National Center for State Courts; and
WHEREAS, In 1981, he was chosen to receive the Justice
Charles W. Barrow award, an honor conferred upon him by his peers
for his contributions to Texas trial court management; he
received the National Center for State Courts' Distinguished
Service Award in 2003, and in 2007, he received the Chair's Award
of Excellence, Judicial Section, State Bar of Texas; and
WHEREAS, His duties have included overseeing case flow
management, budgets, staff training, and policy development and
evaluation; throughout his career, he has consistently upheld
the highest standards of his profession and has handled his
far-reaching responsibilities with the utmost skill and
prudence; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
Legislature, hereby commend Bob Wessels for his outstanding
service as court manager of the Harris County Courts at Law and
extend to him best wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
