| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| join the Guadalupe Valley Young Marines and Texans across the | ||
| state in celebrating the last week of October, 2021, as Red | ||
| Ribbon Week; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The mission of the Young Marines program is to | ||
| develop good citizenship and promote a healthy, drug-free | ||
| lifestyle among young people; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Drug awareness and education play a vital role in | ||
| the Young Marines' fight against illicit drug use and | ||
| trafficking; the young men and women in this outstanding | ||
| organization work diligently during Red Ribbon Week to educate | ||
| others and to raise awareness of the dangers associated with drug | ||
| use; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Red Ribbon Week provides an opportunity for all | ||
| citizens to make a difference in the lives of young people by | ||
| helping to educate them about the consequences of illegal drug | ||
| use; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th | ||
| Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend the Guadalupe | ||
| Valley Young Marines on their commitment to reducing drug usage | ||
| and trafficking and extend to them best wishes for a productive | ||
| and memorable Red Ribbon Week in 2021; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| this exemplary organization as an expression of esteem from the | ||
| Texas Senate. | ||
