| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize the Westlake High School boys' golf team, which won the | ||
| 2021 University Interscholastic League Class 6A state | ||
| championship; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Chaparrals won the golf program's seventh | ||
| state championship in dominating fashion with a two-day total | ||
| score of 568; the team defeated the second place finisher by 18 | ||
| strokes at Legacy Hills Golf Club in Georgetown to claim the | ||
| fourth consecutive state title for the team; and | ||
| WHEREAS, These young athletes have demonstrated great | ||
| talent and perseverance over the course of the school year, and | ||
| they can take pride in their outstanding performance; team | ||
| members are Jacob Sosa, Sean-Karl Dobson, Zach Kingsland, J. | ||
| Holland Humphries, and Kellan McGinnis; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Under the superior leadership of head coach | ||
| Callan Nokes and assistant coach Lane Grigg, the Chaparrals have | ||
| developed exceptional teamwork and discipline; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Winning a state championship is a daunting task | ||
| that requires countless hours of hard work and an unwavering | ||
| commitment to excellence; Westlake High School and the Westlake | ||
| community are justifiably proud of the Chaparrals for their | ||
| impressive skills and fine sportsmanship; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend the Westlake High School boys' golf | ||
| team members, coaches, and staff on their successful season and | ||
| extend congratulations to the team on winning the 2021 Class 6A | ||
| state championship title; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| the team as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
