| Mollie Ann Newcom | ||
| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the | ||
| citizens of Saginaw in mourning the loss of Mollie Ann Newcom, | ||
| who died March 11, 2017, at the age of 82; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mollie Newcom was born on August 11, 1934, in | ||
| Thornton, Texas; she graduated from Temple High School, and she | ||
| continued her academics at Temple Junior College; she went on to | ||
| earn a bachelor's degree in education and a master's degree in | ||
| secondary education from the University of North Texas; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Newcom had a rewarding 30-year career as an | ||
| English instructor in both secondary and higher education | ||
| classrooms; she was a spirited teacher who found immense | ||
| fulfillment working with young people, and she was inducted into | ||
| the Miss Texas Hall of Honor for her work with young women | ||
| throughout Texas; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she | ||
| shared 63 years of marriage with Max Newcom, and she was | ||
| blessed with three children, eight grandchildren, and five | ||
| great-grandchildren; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mollie Newcom was guided in all things by her | ||
| faith; she taught the Love Class at the First Baptist Church in | ||
| Saginaw, and she treasured her friends in the Christian Women's | ||
| Club; she was a beloved member of her community, and she leaves | ||
| behind memories that will long be cherished by all who were | ||
| privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
| family of Mollie Ann Newcom; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
| Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
| memory of Mollie Ann Newcom. | ||
