| Cresencio V. Hinojosa, Jr. | ||
| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the | ||
| citizens of the Rio Grande Valley in mourning the loss of | ||
| Cresencio V. "Queche" Hinojosa, Jr., who died February 12, 2011, | ||
| at the age of 86; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Cresencio Hinojosa was an exemplary citizen who | ||
| was widely admired in his community for his many achievements; | ||
| born September 23, 1924, to Cresencio V. Hinojosa, Sr., and | ||
| Natalia P. Hinojosa, Mr. Hinojosa served the nation with | ||
| distinction during World War II as a member of the United States | ||
| Merchant Marine; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Throughout his life, he was an avid sports fan, | ||
| from his days as a young man playing pool to his longtime enjoyment | ||
| of professional football and major league baseball; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he | ||
| gave generously to others, and his wisdom and enthusiasm for | ||
| living each day to the fullest will not be forgotten by those who | ||
| shared in his life; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He was devoted to his large and loving extended | ||
| family, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured | ||
| forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
| family of Cresencio V. Hinojosa, Jr.: his sisters, Tencha H. | ||
| Sloss, Elena Vergott, and Dolores Witte; his brothers, Richard, | ||
| Daniel, Amador, and Raul Hinojosa; and numerous nieces and | ||
| nephews; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
| Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
| memory of Cresencio V. Hinojosa, Jr. | ||
