| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize the Sergeant Benito Alaniz Veterans of Foreign Wars | ||
| Post 7473 in Elsa for its long and distinguished record of | ||
| service to veterans and to the community; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Sergeant Benito Alaniz Veterans of Foreign | ||
| Wars Post 7473 was chartered on March 3, 1968, and was named after | ||
| the first casualty in the Vietnam War from Elsa; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Commander Lupita Perez, a | ||
| veteran of the Iraq War, the post has been designated as an All | ||
| State post three times; it has also been named three times as an | ||
| All American post, the highest accolade a Veterans of Foreign | ||
| Wars post can receive; and | ||
| WHEREAS, These prestigious honors are a reflection of the | ||
| post's commitment to supporting veterans and to creating | ||
| programs for the benefit of the community; the initiatives | ||
| established by Post 7473 include its award-winning citizenship | ||
| education programs and youth activities programs; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The men and women of the Sergeant Benito Alaniz | ||
| Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7473 have had a profound impact on | ||
| the Elsa community through their hard work and dedication to | ||
| public service, and it is truly fitting that they receive special | ||
| recognition; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend the members of | ||
| the Sergeant Benito Alaniz Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7473 on | ||
| their many contributions to the community and extend to them best | ||
| wishes for continued success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| the post as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. | ||
