| Catherine Ann Berry | ||
| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and | ||
| commemorates the life of Catherine "Katy" Ann Berry, who died | ||
| November 4, 2017, at the age of 61; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Katy Berry was born on June 14, 1956, to Lawrence | ||
| and June Berry; she graduated from the Loretto Academy in | ||
| 1974; and | ||
| WHEREAS, She furthered her studies at The University of | ||
| Texas at El Paso, where she earned both a bachelor's degree and a | ||
| master's degree; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Katy enjoyed a long and rewarding career in | ||
| education; she worked for 17 years as a kindergarten teacher at | ||
| Saint Raphael's Catholic School, and she devoted the last 10 | ||
| years of her career counseling the students in the Ysleta | ||
| Independent School District; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Katy was the devoted mother of two daughters, and | ||
| her grandson was a source of great pride and joy; and | ||
| WHEREAS, An active and engaged citizen, Katy was a member | ||
| of the Junior League of El Paso, the Trans Pecos Counseling | ||
| Association, and the ACTS ministry; she enjoyed traveling, and | ||
| she cherished time spent with her family and friends; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Katy Berry was a source of strength to those who | ||
| knew her and was noted for her loving nature and her boundless | ||
| generosity; she was beloved by many, and she will long be | ||
| remembered with respect and admiration by all who were privileged | ||
| to share in her life; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th | ||
| Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
| family of Catherine Ann Berry; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
| Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
| memory of Katy Berry. | ||
