| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize the annual Covington Volunteer Fire Department BBQ | ||
| Cook-off; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Covington Volunteer Fire Department BBQ | ||
| Cook-off is held the first weekend of May at the Covington | ||
| Volunteer Fire Station and attracts participants from across the | ||
| region; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This highly anticipated annual event is sponsored | ||
| by the Covington Volunteer Fire Department and is sanctioned by | ||
| the International Barbeque Cookers Association as one of the | ||
| organization's annual state cook-offs; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Proceeds from the competition benefit the | ||
| Covington Volunteer Fire Department and provide for training, | ||
| protective equipment, and equipment maintenance, all of which | ||
| allow fire department members to better serve the community; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their affinity for barbecue | ||
| and for their competitive spirit, and the Covington Volunteer | ||
| Fire Department BBQ Cook-off provides visitors with the | ||
| opportunity to sample the wares of some of the best chefs in the | ||
| state; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend the sponsors of and the participants | ||
| in the annual Covington Volunteer Fire Department BBQ Cook-off on | ||
| their hard work and dedication and extend to them best wishes for | ||
| a successful event; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in | ||
| honor of this special event. | ||
