| WHEREAS, The Texas Authors Museum & Institute of History is | ||
| celebrating its 10th anniversary in April 2025; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This outstanding organization traces its roots to | ||
| 2014, when B. Alan Bourgeois established the first museum | ||
| dedicated to preserving the legacy of Texas authors; since its | ||
| inception, the nonprofit has curated a comprehensive collection | ||
| of rare manuscripts, first editions, personal papers, and other | ||
| literary artifacts, helping to ensure that the state's rich | ||
| literary history is accessible to researchers, historians, | ||
| educators, and the general public; in addition, the organization | ||
| has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to supporting the | ||
| publishing industry in Texas, which annually generates more than | ||
| $500 million in tax revenue; and | ||
| WHEREAS, TAMIH has worked to enhance literary education | ||
| through partnerships with schools, libraries, and cultural | ||
| institutions; the organization has also established a number of | ||
| educational outreach programs such as writing workshops, | ||
| lectures, book signings, and other special events to foster | ||
| appreciation for literature and to help to develop future | ||
| authors; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This year, TAMIH is marking its 10th anniversary | ||
| with a variety of fun and engaging programs; the organization is | ||
| hosting the Y'all Write Challenge in March, and during its Lone | ||
| Star Festival in June, it plans to set a world record by featuring | ||
| 120 Texas authors who will read from their published works for | ||
| more than 30 hours; and | ||
| WHEREAS, By highlighting the stories and achievements of | ||
| Texas authors, TAMIH is enriching the cultural fabric of the Lone | ||
| Star State and inspiring future generations of writers, and the | ||
| organization is indeed worthy of special recognition on this | ||
| special milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commemorate the 10th anniversary of the | ||
| Texas Authors Museum & Institute of History and extend to all | ||
| those affiliated with the organization sincere best wishes for | ||
| the future; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be | ||
| prepared for TAMIH as an expression of high regard from the Texas | ||
| Senate. | ||
